It's not every day that we come across a new company aiming to make a high-performance supercar. But it sure can seem that way. The latest to enter the fray is Supercar System, a company determined to deliver exotic machinery, but with a twist: that twist being a far lower sticker price than you'd expect of most such exotics.
A target price of $69,000 promises to get you a chromoloy frame draped in carbon-fiber bodywork with a V8 sourced (naturally) from General Motors and a 2,200-pound curb weight. With power ranging, according to the customer's specifications, from 452 to 694 horsepower, the car aims to deliver a 0-60 time of around three seconds.
Couple that with a six-speed sequential transmission, a flat underfloor leading to rear diffusers and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, all in a highly customizable configuration, and you've got a potentially winning package on your hands. We say "potentially" because a lot of these ambitious projects never see the light of day - but with these kinds of specs, here's hoping this one makes it to production.
